I love getting things done.
Even better? Getting them done fast.
In fact, I’ve been working on this email on and off all morning.
If I just dumped it into ChatGPT, it could be done by now…
But would it feel like I wrote it? Would it actually say what I mean?
That’s the tension:
Speed vs. process.
Output vs. ownership.
This week, I was listening to Ken Burns on the Joe Rogan podcast, and he dropped a line that stopped me cold:
“Impatience kills process.”
Whack. Right in the gut.
And it got me thinking: how often do we rush the middle and ruin the outcome?
Fire off a half-baked email – and have to clean up the miscommunication later.
Jump into a meeting without preparing – and miss the real issue.
Hurry our kids through a moment – and miss the chance to connect or teach.
Try to shortcut building trust or culture – and end up with confusion.
Where are we so desperately trying to get to?
So, this week, I’m reminding myself:
Patience is not weakness. It’s wisdom.
Process isn’t delay. It’s development.
Where am I rushing?
Where am I sacrificing quality for speed?
Where do I need to slow down – not to do less, but to do it right?
Maybe you’re asking the same thing.
This is our reminder, we don’t just want to move fast…we want to move well.
Let’s ‘trust the process’.
Make it a great weekend!

P.S. Speaking of patience…
This week on the Leadership Blueprints podcast, I sat down with Allen Kopelson – the 82-year-old founder of NK Architects. His career is a masterclass in long-game leadership, values-driven growth, and building a business with purpose.
If you’re in a hurry to build something meaningful, this episode is a reminder:
Success takes time, intention, and patience.
