“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.”
-Mother Teresa
Talk is cheap!!
We’ve heard it our entire lives. It’s meant to challenge us to not just “talk about it” but “be about it.” Not to “talk the talk” but to “walk the walk.” Or, as Toby Keith sings, “a little less talk and a lot more action!”
But I am going to flip the script.
Talk is cheap – meaning communication is inexpensive – text messages, social media, e-mail, zoom, etc. Innovation has made communication easy and affordable. From YouTube to Yelp, Music to Meta, Twitter to TED Talks, it’s never been easier to use our words to tell a story, publish a book or write a review, and yet, because it’s so cheap and easy, it’s harder than ever to be heard.
As leaders, project managers and problem solvers, our challenge is to find ways to cut through the noise of a busy world and communicate so people listen. What are some ways you are making your message memorable?
