Project Description
The Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL) is a 65 square mile, 56,000 personnel strong major campus located between Philadelphia and New York City. The campus includes offices, classrooms, labs, recreation facilities, and major utility systems required to support daily operations. To keep the base functional during power outages MCFA developed an Energy Resiliency Master Plan in conjunction with the State of New Jersey to ensure that the Joint Base can perform its mission while supporting the surrounding communities.
The Joint Base is increasingly reliant on energy, specifically electricity, at its campus in order to conduct its missions while at the same time, needing to ensure the delivery of reliable energy to meet the requirements of users at the Joint Base. The Joint Base is increasingly constrained by limited resources and a conventional, siloed approach to procuring and managing energy that favors reduced cost risk. Instead, the Joint Base needs new, nimble strategies that allow the Joint Base to provide services to end-users via multiple strategies and funding streams. For this reason, MCFA developed plans, programs, strategies, and tactics to leverage innovation from industry in the development of a resilient business model as a means for the installation to better meet mission electrical needs.
